CUTTING MACHINE FILES

Export rhinestone SVGs for Cricut & Silhouette

Check SVG dimensions, circle geometry and software compatibility before you cut your stencil.

Intermediate7 min readFree tutorial

An SVG export is a design file, not a guarantee that every machine or software edition will import it the same way. Verify the result before cutting rhinestone stencil material.

1. Export from your current BrightBench version

Complete the pattern preview, then choose the SVG export option if your installed build includes it. Save the file somewhere easy to find. Keep an untouched copy before editing it elsewhere.

2. Import into Cricut Design Space

  1. Open Design Space and start a new project.
  2. Upload the SVG using the image-upload workflow.
  3. Place it on the canvas and check the physical width and height.
  4. Zoom into a sample area. Make sure circles have distinct edges and that unexpected objects were not added.
  5. Test cut a small section in appropriate stencil material before a full-size cut.

3. Import into Silhouette Studio

Silhouette Studio's basic edition does not generally support opening SVG files directly. SVG import requires Designer Edition or a compatible higher edition. If a customer cannot open an SVG, check their Studio edition before assuming the file is broken.

  1. Confirm your Silhouette Studio edition. Look for support for importing SVG files.
  2. Open the SVG using the program's file opening/import method.
  3. Verify the dimensions and the individual circles in the design.
  4. Check cut settings for your particular material and machine.
  5. Run a small test before cutting a larger sheet.
Remember

A visually correct SVG can still import at an unexpected size or include very close circles. Confirm file geometry and scale every time you change machines or software.

What if the SVG doesn't import?

  • Check that you exported an SVG, not just a PNG preview with a renamed extension.
  • Confirm the cutting application and your edition support SVG.
  • Try a simple sample file to isolate the issue.
  • If an error persists, contact support with the application name, version, and a screenshot of the error.
