Getting started with the Rhinestone Generator

Start with your Etsy download, open the browser-based generator, import artwork, review the pattern and save your first design.

If you've just bought the BrightBench Rhinestone Generator, start here. This walkthrough focuses on the current browser-based download, not a future installed Windows or Mac app.

Before you begin

Keep your Etsy purchase ZIP and its included instructions. The exact download names and available export options can vary by version.

1. Download and open the program

  1. Find the Etsy download. Open Etsy in a browser, go to your purchases and download the files for your order.
  2. Extract the ZIP to a normal folder. Keep the extracted folders and supporting files together rather than opening individual files directly from inside the ZIP.
  3. Read the included README or setup instructions. Open the program's starting HTML file as directed by your version. If the download contains a named start file, use that file rather than guessing.
  4. Check the workspace loads correctly. If something looks blank or a feature fails to run, re-extract the download first, then check the support instructions.

2. Make your first simple design

Choose a bold heart, star or simple one-color graphic. These are easier to judge than a photo with dozens of shades and tiny details.

  1. Import the image using the image upload/import control in your current build.
  2. Choose your template settings including the desired stone size and gap, where those controls are available.
  3. Generate or refresh the pattern and wait for the preview to finish processing.
  4. Zoom in and inspect edges, corners, neighboring circles and any unexpected empty rows.
  5. Export a test file in a format supported by your version, then open that file in your downstream design software.
Don't cut your first large project yet.

Confirm the exported dimensions and do a small test cut with your stencil material. A design that looks good on-screen can still have cutting or transfer issues.

3. Check these three details before you save

  • Are the outer edges recognizable at actual project size?
  • Are neighboring holes separate, with no unexpected overlaps or stray stones?
  • Does the export match the dimensions, format and stone size you intend to use?
